We are working with the UK’s #1 Gas supplier in the UK who are in need of a Head of Credit Risk to join their team. It’s a really exciting time to join the business as they continue to expand to become a leading international player in renewable energies. – with the aim to become the world’s largest renewable energy companies by the end of this decade.
This is a brand new role for the organisation, having split Risk & Collections due to the size of the area, so its a chance for you to come in and really own this area. This will be one of the most senior roles within the business with responsibility for credit risk on over £6bn annual turnover portfolio, and is critical in balancing credit risk management, portfolio optimisation and overall commercial & sales strategy.
So, the role!
The Head of Credit Risk is responsible for developing and ensuring credit risk management policies, limits, and strategies align with applicable regulations, strategic imperatives, and the risk appetite of the organisation.
The credit Risk Function has primary responsibility for the financial risk exposure related to extending credit and shared responsibility for the overall credit risk portfolio profile of the entity. The role owns all aspects of credit related issues, including but not limited to detailed credit underwriting, relationship management, portfolio analysis, customer liaison and credit insurance management. Oversight of a team of c.6 FTE with specialist skills across Risk Management
You will be responsible for the overall credit risk strategy, decision management and portfolio performance, covering a total of c.5k decisions per month with exposure of c.£400m, managing a credit insurance portfolio of c.£2bn, security portfolio of >£100m and Unsecured portfolio of c.£50m

Ownership of the UK Credit Committee

Management of Credit Insurance policy with portfolio of c.£2bn of cover – responsible for policy oversight and 3rd party ultimate performance

Management of all decision criteria, processes and policies across Credit Risk for the UK business

Leading the credit transformational program to include structural review, local process/policy changes and business case creation for technology investments

Board level credit performance result presentations and controls of departmental budget

Develop and enhance the Credit Reporting & Monitoring framework which meets the requirements of various external & internal stakeholders
