Decision science and analytics is a broad discipline and the roles within it vary significantly. A pricing analyst at a specialist lender works differently to a customer insight manager at a bank, and both are different again from an MI developer building reporting infrastructure. Pricing analytics

Pricing is one of the most commercially critical analytics disciplines in financial services. We place pricing analysts and managers across consumer credit, motor finance, mortgages and insurance, working on risk-based pricing, rate optimisation, margin analysis and competitive pricing strategy. Tools typically include SAS, Python, R and SQL, often feeding into proprietary pricing engines.

Customer analytics & insight

Customer analytics roles span acquisition, retention, lifecycle and churn, making sense of behaviour data to drive commercial decisions. We place customer insight managers, analytics leads and senior individual contributors at banks, building societies, lenders and fintechs, working in Python, SAS, SQL and increasingly cloud-native analytics stacks.

Marketing analytics

Marketing analytics has grown in complexity alongside the shift to digital channels and the proliferation of first-party data. We place marketing data analysts and scientists working on attribution, campaign measurement, audience segmentation and media mix modelling, primarily at financial services firms and fintechs with significant direct-to-consumer marketing spend.

Management information & MI

MI sits at the intersection of data engineering and analytics, the reporting infrastructure that keeps senior stakeholders informed. We place MI developers, BI analysts and reporting managers building dashboards, automated reports and executive packs in tools including Power BI, Tableau, SQL and SAS.

Decision science & champion-challenger

True decision science, designing and testing decision strategies, building champion-challenger frameworks, linking model output to policy, is a specialist skill. We place decision scientists at lenders and fintechs who are serious about using data to run better books, typically with backgrounds in statistics, mathematics or economics and experience of SAS decision management tools, Python or R.

The analytics roles we fill most regularly involve SAS, Python, R, SQL, Power BI, Tableau and dbt. We also see growing demand for skills in cloud analytics platforms, Snowflake, BigQuery and Databricks, particularly at fintechs and digital-first lenders. Permanent and contract

We place both. Permanent roles range from analyst and associate through to director level. Contract work includes day-rate analytics resource, fixed-term project support and interim heads of function during periods of growth or restructuring. The skills market in analytics is tight at mid-to-senior level, and we work as a search partner rather than a CV-posting service, which means we bring people who are not actively looking as well as those who are.
